Alvin W. Jessamy, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 59 years old. He was born on May 20, 1955 to John F. and Margaret Belton Jessamy in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. He was a graduate of Arcadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in pyschology. Mr. Jessamy was a case worker for the Westchester County Department of Social Service in White Plains from 1975 to 1985 until an injury forced him into an early retirement....

Alvin W. Jessamy, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 59 years old. He was born on May 20, 1955 to John F. and Margaret Belton Jessamy in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. He was a graduate of Arcadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in pyschology. Mr. Jessamy was a case worker for the Westchester County Department of Social Service in White Plains from 1975 to 1985 until an injury forced him into an early retirement. His passion was basketball whether he was playing, watching or coaching. He just loved the game. On July 29, 1997, he married his loving wife Angela DuBois in Yonkers. Mrs. Jessamy survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six sons, Rashad, Nigel, Devin, Darnell, Alvin Jr., and Matthew Jessamy, a step daughter, Lakeshia Brown, and four brothers, Michael, Ronald, Howard and John Jessamy, Jr. and a sister Beverly Jessamy. He is also survived by five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday April 2nd from 11:30am to 12pm with a memorial service to follow at 12pm.
